Mobile medical brigades (MMB) are unique medical units that make available medical and diagnostic assistance to the population of Kyiv region, affected by the military conflict and limited in access to basic medical services. The activities of such teams are especially important and relevant today, when state medical institutions are having a hard time coping with the influx of patients evacuated from other regions, of whom there are many in Kyiv region and it is obvious that their number will continue to increase. Thus, the Red Cross does not duplicate the functions of doctors, but helps state medicine and becomes its assistant.
Mobile Medical Brigades of the Kyiv Regional Organization of the TCHHU carry out their activities in villages on the territory of Kyiv Region, namely in the Buchansk United Territorial Community, the Makariv Settlement Territorial Community, the Feodosiiv OTG, Glevakhivska OTG, Vasylkivska OTG, Kalynivska Settlement United Territorial Community and Zamiska Settlement Territorial Community.
In May 2023, our teams made 88 trips. 1,357 patient requests/consultations were accepted (84 of them internally displaced persons, 1,273 – local population).
Among the general procedures, the following were done:
Today, the MMB maintains a stable schedule of visits to remote settlements with a low level of primary health care, thereby supporting the health care system of Ukraine.
