In the new year of 2024, we continue to take care of mental health and provide psychosocial support (hereinafter referred to as PSS) to everyone who needs it.

In January, we had 18 locations in all 7 districts of Kyiv region, where volunteers conducted 211 different activities (recreational, creative activities) for children, adults, senior citizens, and families.

In January alone, 1423 people took part in our activities. All of them received much-needed psychological support, had the opportunity to unload and open up through creativity. As usual, most of the visitors to the PSS locations were children. But every month more and more adults come to us, which is also good news. This means that people are beginning to realize how important it is to take care of the emotional state of not only their children, but also their own.

We should also not forget about the support and development of the volunteers of the Kyiv NGO CCU and the development of the PSS in general. From January 29 to 31, the coordinator and assistant of the Kyiv Oblast Council of the URCS together with specialists from the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross (interregional coordinators of the PSS) conducted a series of monitoring visits to the PSS locations in Kyiv Oblast. As part of the visit, they attended several FP activities (classes for children with elements of creativity). After the classes, we shared with the volunteers our impressions of the events, gave a number of recommendations for their improvement, discussed existing problems and ways to solve them. In Uzyn and Boryspil, we met with volunteers and heads of local URCS branches.

At the meetings, they planned further development of mental health and psychosocial support in these centers and discussed ways to improve volunteer activities. Such visits provide an opportunity to support our volunteers and strengthen the team spirit. It is really important to support those who support other people. And, of course, the main goal is to improve our activities in the area of SMT so that even more people can receive really high-quality support.
