The project "Kyiv region is free from tuberculosis: promoting recovery for everyone at any age", which is implemented by the Kyiv regional organization of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine together with the Public Health Alliance fund, continues its work in 2023

Project activities are conducted in all settlements of the Kyiv region where cases of tuberculosis are registered, which ensures equal and comprehensive access to the provision of medical and psychosocial services to patients suffering from this disease.

The goal of the project is to form and maintain motivation to treat patients with tuberculosis, encourage them to behave more safely, by providing them with psychosocial support. To achieve this goal, patients are provided with legal and psychological support as needed, which is provided by experienced specialists - a lawyer and a psychiatrist, respectively.

Since the beginning of 2023, 207 patients with sensitive tuberculosis and more than 60 with chemoresistant tuberculosis have been taken for follow-up. About 400 people were also examined for the presence of tuberculosis.

The distribution of 1,500 motivational food sets is underway. Regular help with the delivery of tests throughout the region is provided. The activity of the project involves active cooperation with regional medical centers, therefore more than 20 agreements on cooperation with health care institutions were concluded. The project plans to support at least 250 people infected with tuberculosis by the end of the year, to conduct examinations for 400 people, to provide project services as efficiently as possible and to promote the recovery of tuberculosis patients.
